Urban Installation

Dome Next Door is a summer urban art installation transforming Riga’s Cathedral Square into a vibrant hub of social interaction and cultural reflection. Running from July to September, the project addresses the square’s lack of a central gathering point by introducing a multisensory structure inspired by the city's historic architecture. The installation consists of four colourful modules—each designed for leisure, play, and community engagement—featuring swings, hammocks, seating areas, and rain shelters. Sustainability is central to the concept, using eco–friendly materials like timber Glulam's and steel, along with solar panels for energy self–sufficiency. Designed for disassembly and reuse, the structure can be relocated or upcycled after the event. Dome Next Door blends aesthetic appeal with environmental and social responsibility, creating a playful, inclusive, and dynamic public space rooted in Riga’s cultural heritage.
